book club

Dinner Club With a Reading Problem
is our famous little Oklahoma book club!
This group of women is flat out amazing.
We have been evolving together since January of 2011.
We are doing amazing stuff in 2013 PLUS we read so many great books.
We have truly become a tight, strong group of friends in this reading adventure.

Currently Reading (Autumn 2013):
As of mid September, we finished Same Kind of Different as Me, by Ron Hall.
and also The Horse Whisperer by Nicholas Evans.
Our adventure between now and the November meeting is unusual.
Steph, our token non-reader, has selected a pair of blogs for us all to explore and discuss.
She Loves Magazine
&
Magpie Girl
Fun, right? Totally different, and we all welcomed the switch-up!

On a cold Saturday in February, about a third of our fab little group
gathered at the Oklahoma State Capitol for a "Red Dress" photo shoot.

You can find a full post about our event somewhere on this blog.
It was a love-filled, purposeful, wonderfully fun time.

Can you discern the heart shape of our arrangement??

This was my shabby embellished, hand dyed version of an over-the-top red dress.
It somewhat came apart in the post-Rit wash but I loved it anyway.

After only a few gatherings to discuss books, we realized that, as a group,
our appetite for literature is matched only by our appetite for good food.
Hence, the group name... Dinner Club With a Reading Problem!

Here is a partial group photo of the night we welcomed author
Jennifer Luitwieler to the farm to discuss her inspirational book, Run With Me.

A favorite quote from The Help, which we devoured in the autumn of 2011.

We are so official that we have a logo and everything.
This and one other perfect image were both hand designed by member Joanna.
I love it to wordy little pieces.
By winter 2013 we will be wearing book club T-shirts!
